For April Fools Day this year Google released an update to Google Maps that displays the maps in "8-bit" mode, reminiscent of classic cRPG's from the 1980's like Ultima.

Those Google engineers can be so clever at times.
Update: Well, it worked for a while but they turned it off. So this post makes little sense now. I guess I should have posted a a screen shot.
